Maximizing the Online Presence of Clients Through Effective Marketing Strategies
Six years ago, I stopped working in a corporate company in Manila, Philippines, to look after my newborn. My sister Joahne (also a content marketer at Holistic Web Presence), said: “Why don’t you try working as an article writer at HWP?” For me, that was a superb idea! When I was in high school, I wrote articles for our school newspaper. I even dreamt of being a successful journalist in our country.
I sent my job application to Tim Barrie, the founder, and CEO of Holistic Web Presence. Luckily, he offered me the job. I was aboard the Holistic “ship” on February 16, 2011. I felt really blessed and excited!
Every time I start a new job, it is normal for me to feel a bit nervous. However, I try to remain as positive as possible so I can be confident that I can do the job well and even exceed my employer’s expectations.
I had basic knowledge about online marketing. I knew that my content should be in good grammar, informational, and interesting to the readers. I thought that was enough.
With training videos and the help of my managers and editors, working at Holistic Web Presence has taught me a lot about how to write articles with technical accuracy and also how to use social media platforms to maximize the online presence of a business.
1. In-Depth Understanding of Content Marketing
With years of experience working at Holistic Web Presence, I now understand the deeper purpose of online marketing and how my articles should be written. Every time I create content, I think of our primary goal, which is to help our client’s website to rank in different search engines.
This means that I have to help the website to land on page one in Google. A higher local search ranking gives the company a good reputation. In order to achieve this, my content should be original, valuable, and be able to convince future clients to work with us.
Create Content that Engages with the User
Helping a business land on page one of a search engine requires time, effort, and effective marketing strategies. This can be achieved when you give a signal to Google that the site has content that satisfied the user’s requirements.
For example, when a user who searches for a local wine cellar builder finds the website of one of our clients, stays on one of its pages for a certain time, clicks on a link, and does not go back to the search engine to look for more, this informs Google that there’s high-quality and relevant content on the website.
As a content writer, I have to create articles that will connect to the “consumers” or target audience, and not put users to sleep. They have to be highly engaging to encourage the readers to pick up the phone, call the company, and purchase our client’s products or avail of their services. I must present new ideas, answer common questions, and offer solutions to the user’s problems.
Fresh Content
The “freshness” of a website’s content is one of the ranking factors in Google. This doesn’t mean that older posts have to be trashed.
Fresh content can be a new write-up, an update to existing content, or additional inter-page links. Small adjustments to your content can have significant effects. When you regularly add new content to a website, it increases its relevance to search engines.
2. Using the Right Keywords/Key Phrases for SEO
For clients who build wine cellars, I am required to write articles that will rank for key phrases: custom wine cellars, home wine cellars, residential wine cellars, commercial wine cellars, custom wine rooms, custom wine racks, wine cellar design, wine cellar builders, and other relevant key phrases.
My content should be SEO optimized to help our client’s website rank higher in search engines and make it easier for the target audience to find the website. Key phrases must be in the title tag, page description, URL, H1 tag, at least one of the tags within the article body, and CTA.
3. Online Marketing with Houzz: a Social Media Platform for Boosting Web Presence
Using social media to connect with your target audience is another effective marketing strategy to promote a business’ online presence. Houzz is growing quickly in the social media scene.
At Holistic Web Presence, we use Houzz as a powerful social media marketing platform that targets customers who are planning to remodel or renovate their homes. They can also find local contractors conveniently, view examples of the builder’s completed projects, and see testimonials from clients. In short, it is a great place for building a company’s portfolio, demonstrating expertise, and showing off beautiful photos of their works or products.
When I was assigned my first Houzz project, I was very excited to watch the training videos. This type of task was new to me and interesting! I’ve learned techniques on how to add projects, photos, and image captions that will maximize the online presence of our client’s business.
Create an Informational and Catchy Profile
Your Houzz profile is the first thing that Houzz visitors will see. It should be complete and include a business description that tells the users that your page is worth following. It should contain your business’ contact information and links to the projects.
It is also best to add links to other pages on your website and your social media pages such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Google+.
Create Projects from Start to Finish
The purpose of adding all of your projects on Houzz is to tell your target audience to try your products or services. In every wine cellar project that I add to Houzz for a client, I do my best to create a compelling write-up in the description and photo captions that will entice users to try the project themselves and feel happy in the end.
Add More High-Resolution Images
To complete your Houzz profile, you will be required to upload at least five photos. However, the more images you have on your profile, the more chances your target audience will find you.
Also, keep in mind that you must upload photos with high resolution so that Houzz will showcase your projects on the homepage. The advantage of being on the homepage is that it tells the users that you have relevant products or services to offer.
Use Relevant Key Phrases or Tags
Key phrases are not only intended for websites; they also play a significant role in helping your company profile rank in search engines. Although they are not visible to users, these key phrases help make projects and photos increase their visibility on Houzz and search engines.
As a content marketer, I learned how to optimize each image by adding location qualifiers and relevant key phrases in some of the data fields.
